February 24, 2020, Last day to register for an absentee ballot; February 25- March 10, 2020, In-person registration with proof of residency with local clerk's office; March 10, 2020, Presidential Primary. Registration and absentee voting. Due to a n ew law passed, all individuals who are eligible and registered to vote in Michigan may now request an absentee voter ballot with out providing a reason. To request an absentee voter ballot, you must contact your local clerk's office no later than 5:00p.m. on the Friday before the election: Friday, March 6th. Once your request is received by the local clerk, your signature on the request will be checked against your voter registration record. After receiving your absentee voter ballot, you have until 8:00p.m. on the day of the election to complete and return it to the clerk's office.
